Green Party of California Anniversary “Money Bloom”: February 4th, 2012

The Green Party of California has had their donations increase quickly following a website redesign and an interactive donation page.

The State Party has made a goal to increase Party Registration by 100,000 voters before the 2012 General Election. To help get them going, and to help them promote their State candidates in 2012, let us organize a Money Bloom in their favor.

At the time of this article the California Green Party has raised a little over $1,300 of their $5,000 goal. On February 4, 2012 let’s make sure this $5,000 goal is met.

Remember, you do not have to be from California to participate. If Greens around the Country chipped in, we can start a trend for 2012 of successful Green Party Money Blooms. Next we can start focusing on other States, on Local Candidates, Congressional Candidates, and our eventual Presidential Nominee.

If we can raise enough money for the California Green Party, perhaps their team can help build equally as empowering websites for other State Parties.

Notable Greens Elected to Office in California:

Fairfax City Council Green Majority

Fairfax, CA is currently the only city with a Green Party majority in the United States.

Gayle McLaughlin, Mayor of Richmond

Currently the highest seat holding Green in the United States.

Matt Gonzalez, President of the Board, San Francisco

The most successful Green electorally, Matt Gonzalez served on the Board of Supervisors of San Francisco, was the President of the Board, and narrowly lost a race for Mayor against Democrat Gavin Newsom. In 2008 Matt registered Independent to run as Ralph Nader’s Vice President Candidate.

Money Blooms in 2012

If this California Green Party Money Bloom is a success, we can continue the trend every month for the rest of the year. It is important for candidates and state parties to have fund to run their campaign, however, even with little funds candidates can still run successful campaigns if the follow a basic strategy, as did Anita Stewart in Florida;

Creating a Green Party Internet Presence

For the rest of January, let us empower as many candidates and local/state parties as we can with web resources. Let’s make sure we know the basic steps to creating a functioning campaign, and an Internet presence for it.

Starting a Website is Cheap: $10 per Year for the Domain, $10 per month for Hosting:

Building the site is free using WordPress.

http://wordpress.org/extend/themes

Joining Pay Pal is free, creating a Chip-In is free (for Money Blooms and general fund-raising Goals).

The next thing the campaign (or a supporter) needs to do is create and make available a single sheet handout with all relevant information about the candidate or state party. Once this is available, other supporters can print out or order them and begin going door-to-door or tabling at events.

Door-to-door is free and effective. Tabling may cost money, but in spread out areas may be more time effective than canvasing (door-to-door).

Get onto Meet-Up and start attending local events of relevant groups. Share your information with them. (this is free as well).

The Nation Builder 14-Day Trial Money Bloom Strategy

http://nationbuilder.com/

Nation Builder is a great tool for fund-raising. They offer a 14-Day Trial. What we can do is to plan out a Money Bloom for a Candidate or State Party so that they can start the Free Trial a couple days prior, get everything set up, and raise the funds to keep their Nation Builder account going.
