Register Third on the 3rd: A Call to Register Third-Party on November 3rd, 2010 – The Day After the General Election

This is a call for all Americans, tired of the corporate and special interest backed Democrat-Republican Party, to re-register to vote under any Third-Party the day after the November 2nd, 2010 Mid-Term Election.  This article will cover why registering Third-Party is more productive than registering “Decline to State” or “No-Party Affiliation,” and why participating in a Third-Party’s Primary is more productive than participating in a Democrat-Republican Primary.  This article will also cover how registering Third-Party will force mainstream candidates to address populist positions and still allow the voter to vote for the “Lesser of Two Evils” – perhaps driving the lesser of these two evils toward actually be a little good.

Why Not “Decline to State”?

Decline to State, No-Party Affiliation, or Independent may be ideal in theory, but in our current system, where two major-parties have a functional monopoly over the electoral system, choosing to register in this way does not help open the process or gain access to government.  It also does not help build anything, nor does it send any sort of message to the two mainstream parties as to why the voter has declined to register with their parties.

By registering third-party, the voter sends a clear message to the mainstream candidates, and helps build an organization that will continue to work towards opening up the electoral process.  By choosing a third-party that more closely articulates your beliefs as to how government ought to run, you give Democrat, Republican and Independent Candidates a clear and concise message as to how they may win your vote.

Why Not Participate in Democrat-Republican Primaries?

In a Democrat-Republican Primary you are 1 of Millions of Voters.

In a Third-Party Primary you are 1 of Thousands (if not Hundreds) of Voters.

In which Primary will you have the most influence to help decide a quality candidate?

By participating in Third-Party Primaries, and being registered within that Party, you will drive more qualified candidates to seek that Party’s Nomination.  This will exponentially increase the chances of a Third-Party candidate winning office.

Why Not Vote Pragmatically?

By registering Third-Party, you can in fact still vote Pragmatically for the “Lesser of Two Evils” in the General Election and know that you have done what you can to drive that mainstream candidate towards a more sensible and responsive agenda.  Even though we would encourage you to still vote your beliefs and conscious, and not be tempted to try to pick the winner or vote out of fear of the “other-guy”, if we were to at least drive Voter Registration and Primary Participation into the Third-Parties, our system of government and electoral process would benefit that much more.

Why November 3rd, 2010?

As to not jeopardize participants ability to vote in the November 2nd General Election, because having a large number of people re-register on the same day will create a media buzz, and because “Register Third on the 3rd” is a great slogan to spread the concept, movement and event.
