The solutions to our education problems cannot be summed up strictly with more funding or the cliché campaign promise of “vocational training,” what is needed is true curriculum reform. We need to change our approach to education, leave behind mandatory testing and take on teachings that empower the individual to sustain themselves in life, economy, career and health. I’ve personally been spending hours on-end researching political candidates through out the country in order to compile a National November 2nd General Election Voters Guide to follow-up on my June 8, 2010 California Primary Election Voters Guide. When I came across Jerry Wilson’s campaign for Governor of Oregon I was blown away by his amazing insight into education reform. This guy gets it, and the ideas he has brought up are concepts I’ve been trying to promote since I was in High-School myself, and since I studied Education in College. Teachers and Educators through-out the country should support Jerry Wilson for Governor of Oregon, and Independent, Libertarian and Progressive citizens should do all they can to support his campaign and encourage residents of Oregon to vote him into office this November.
From The Official Jerry Wilson for Governor Website:
Our kids grow up not knowing how to cultivate food, wire the simplest electrical switch, fix a machine, balance a budget, diagnose illness or eat right. They learn nothing of civics, nothing of the laws they will be subject to. We can do better than this.
Older students who have just learned the subject help teach it to younger ones, and in doing so they come to master it themselves. They also form bonds of mentoring, of caring for each other instead of being in separate competitive tribes, enemies, learning to bully.
Jerry Wilson is the Progressive Party candidate for Governor of Oregon, and aside from effective educational reform, he supports a State Bank for Oregon, Legalizing Marijuana and Hemp, Reducing Taxes on Businesses, Banning Genetically Modified crops and foods, and above all, supports the Freedoms and Liberties of the People of Oregon, and through this, will help create an example of localized Governance for the rest of the United States.
If you have any questions about Jerry’s campaign, he is incredibly open to conversation and discourse on his Official Website. Platforms are general directions candidates will take once in office, Jerry proves to be a candidate that will listen to the people and do what is best for the State as a whole, and secure what is best for the Individual.
